Privacy, in plain language

You may provide assessment answers, an optional email address, and payment information if paid features are enabled. Payment details are handled by Stripe and are not stored directly by Northstarself.

Assessment results are saved in your browser's local storage so the result screen can reopen on the same device. This happens before any account or email flow. Local storage is device and browser specific. The local Profile page reads those same saved results and keeps up to eight local snapshots per assessment so you can compare test sessions. It does not create a combined personality score. Signing in by itself does not upload assessment history.

• ✦Clearing site data or using private browsing can remove saved results.
• ✦Local results are synced across devices only when you sign in and choose Sync now.

You can sign in with an email verification code and choose to merge this browser's assessment snapshots with your account. Signing in alone uploads nothing — syncing requires an explicit action every time. Synced copies can be deleted separately from your local ones. Cloud snapshots are associated with your Supabase account ID and contain the saved assessment result or answer set needed to restore that snapshot. The Profile page lets you delete cloud assessment copies without deleting results stored in the current browser. Signing out also leaves both local and cloud copies in place.

The flagship personality type test may send completed result data to the site API so the product can support saved reports and future account features. An email is stored only when you choose to provide one during report unlock. If paid reports are enabled, Northstarself stores a payment entitlement record with your payment email hash, Stripe session, assessment ID, and the compact result payload needed to rebuild that purchased report. Raw per-question answers are not stored for paid restore unless you separately choose account sync. If the backend is not configured, those requests safely no-op during local development.

The site can use Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregate usage patterns, diagnose broken flows, and improve the product experience. Analytics tools may collect device, browser, interaction, and page usage data according to their own policies. Clarity does not load until you allow it. We ask once, remember the answer on this device, and treat a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a decline without asking. You can change your mind at any time:

• ✦To restore locally saved results on the same device.
• ✦To sync recent assessment history across devices when you explicitly request it.
• ✦To record, unlock, and restore paid report access when you explicitly provide an email.
• ✦To improve reliability, usability, and content quality.

You can retake an assessment without losing its recent local history, use the Profile data controls or clear this site's browser data to remove current results and history, delete synced cloud assessment copies separately, delete paid report restore copies while keeping the underlying Stripe transaction record, avoid signing in or entering an email, or disable analytics through browser privacy controls where available.

Northstarself is a self-reflection product, not a clinical or professional service. Do not submit sensitive information that you would not want processed by a web application.
